01 Development:
Define low + high points of signage. What does it actually mean.
What is the relationship between type/ image/icon.
Do you think there is too much signage in the Uk. Good Design Could reduce this.
How does transport signage change internationally.
What approaches do different countries take on this.
What is the difference between signage road, rail and air. Are there differences.
Why is clarity so important.
How has the development differed internationally.
What are the general techniques adopted that make something successful.
02 Legibility:
Best Colours to use. What colours work best.
Who are people that are reading the sign.
How to produce cleat vectors for communication.
The relationship between size and readability ( Not legibility )
What typefaces are currently used for transport signage.
Do different countries used different typeface standards
How fast should we be able to understand the message.
How will design effect people who are colour blind.
03 Selecting A Location:
Why have you chosen that location.
What so special about the location, to need transport signage.
What part do road safety standards play in selecting locations for road signage, rail and air.
How far away from the roads do the signs have to be. rail also.
How can sign locations be dangerous. Examples.
Who chooses the locations. The council ?
04 Production/Process
Selecting suitable materials. What is a select guideline to work from.
What is the life span of signage. The durability of materials.
Who prints signs and how expensive are they.
